CD circle info

A fun project from the 'ol days before downloading was so prevalent.

Rock and Roll!

Need Music? New to your ears?

The Premise:

Burn a mix CD-R with 80 minutes of music and share with others in the circle. In turn, you will hear everyone else's mix, and hopefully will discover some cool new sounds you've been missing out on.

How it works:

You make one rockin' CD-R, and it trades hands every other week according to the route I will provide. You will always send to the same person and receive from the same person, as the discs travel around in a circle.

Requirements:

You must be able to make a CD-R with audio tracks on it. You must keep to the schedule of sending whomevers disc you have on, every other week. I will send an e-mail reminder on the Monday to send. You must not lose the disc or a replacement will have to be made.

What should go on my disc?:

The whole point is in discovering new stuff, so don't go using music widely known. Also try not to use any songs prior to 1999. Keep it fresh and current. Mine would be a mix of obscure rock, metal and others from the last few years. Ideally only one track from each artist filling your disc completely. Diversity is the key: hard, soft, fast, slow, heavy, light, instrumental etc. Some times you might not like what you get but there's always the next disc. Nobody loves everything.

This sounds too time consuming and hard:
Not at all. Once your disc is made all you have to do is US mail it to your designated receiver every other Monday. And listen of course.

The history:
I've run five of these over the last two years, around the country using the US post-office. One circle even had CDs travelling around the world to several countries. That one became very chaotic as members would drop out and others were allowed to join mid-rotation to replace them and the lag between counties was too great. Missed mailing dates and lost CDs is the doom of this project.

OK, I want in:

I'm looking for about a dozen people who like rock and roll with an open mind. If you haven't bought 10 CDs this year then don't join. If you don't own several hundred CDs this probably isn't for you either.
